ODESSA, TX - The Amarillo Bulls extended their unbeaten string on the road to 17 games, following a 4-3 shootout loss to the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday night at Ector County Coliseum.

It was a tight see-saw affair between the two teams for most of the night, with the Bulls having ample chances to win it in overtime but unable to solve goaltender Alex Camarre. Trey Bagwell, Jake Willets, and Matt Allen replied for the Bulls, while Justin Evenson suffered the shootout loss.

Levi Bure, the son of former National Hockey League forward Valerie Bure, scored in the second round of sudden death shooters. The goal delighted his father and mom actress Candice Cameron-Bure who were in attendance at the game.

The Bulls jumped out to a 1-0 first period lead thanks to a power play goal by Trey Bagwell who was able to fire the rebound past the goaltender. Brett Abdelnour and Gabriel Seger picked up assists on the play as the Bulls outshot the Jackalopes 16-14 in the first stanza.

The home side went to work in the second period scoring twice in an eight minute span. Both goals were scored by Joseph Winkelmann. In the final two minutes of the period the Bulls power play tied the game 2-2 when Jake Willets launched a shot into the net with help from Cooper Fensterstock.

Matt Allen gave the visitors an early 3-2 lead in the final period when he scored a shot off a deflection. Trey Bagwell and Louis Helsen helped to set up the goal. Just three minutes later the Jackalopes tied the game off a turnover as Kellen Tharldson scored on a shot from just inside the blueline.

The Bulls had all sorts of scoring chances on an extended power play in overtime including several by Logan Jenuwine but Alex Camarre came up with some big saves including one with his glove.

Trey Bagwell was one of two goals scored in the shootout until the sudden death session when Bure scored to delight the home side.

The Amarillo Bulls outshot the Odessa Jackalopes 46-38.
