Chris Gratton didn't spend a lot of time in the OHL, but the time he did spend in the league was productive. In his first season with Kingston, Gratton tallied 66 points in just 62 games and earned the rookie of the year award for the OHL. He followed that up with an even better second and final junior season. During the 92-93 season he recorded 109 points in only 58 games. The hot season continued into the playoffs where he put up 29 points in 16 games helping the Frontenacs reach the Eastern Conference Final.

With two incredible OHL seasons on his resume, Gratton was selected 3rd overall in the 1993 NHL draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning becoming the highest drafted Kingston Frontenacs player ever. With the Lightning being a new franchise in 1992-93, Gratton was able to crack their roster for opening night on October 6, 1993 as an 18-year-old. In his rookie season in the NHL he played in 84 games and recorded 42 points. He scored his first career goal on October 20, 1993 against the Los Angeles Kings.

Gratton would spend a total of 16 years playing games in the NHL. During his career he would suit up for multiple teams including Tampa Bay, Philadelphia, Buffalo, Phoenix, Colorado, Florida and Columbus. He played in 1092 NHL games, more than any other Kingston Frontenacs alumni. He scored 214 goals and added 354 assists for 568 career points. He retired in 2009.
