
Almen and Oremba Score in 5-2 Loss to Tigers

Medicine Hat, Alta. - The Medicine Hat Tigers defeated the Regina Pats 5-2 on Tuesday night inside Co-Op Place.
Corban Almen and Sam Oremba scored for the Pats while Kelton Pyne made 19 saves in the loss, as the Pats fall to 18-26-4-2 this season. The Pats opened the scoring less than four minutes into the game before trailing 2-1 after one and 4-1 after 40 minutes of action. The Pats outshot the Tigers 31-24, as well as 9-6 in the second and 13-5 in the third.
The Tigers broke a two game losing-streak with their 30th win of the season. Zach Zahara made 29 saves and Gavin McKenna tallied four points (1G-3A). Andrew Basha (2G-1A) and Oasiz Wiesblatt (2G-1A) each had three point games.
The season series is now tied 2-2, with both clubs winning their home matchups against each other. The Pats and Tigers rematch on February 14 inside the Brandt Centre in the final of five meetings.

First Period
1-0 Pats at 3:23 - Corban Almen (4), assisted by Keagan Slaney & Dru Mushumanski // Slaney sent a long stretch pass to Almen who broke in alone on Zahara and made no mistake firing a shot past the goaltender's glove hand to make it 1-0 early in the contest.
1-1 Tigers at 12:02 - Gavin McKenna (22), assisted by Oasiz Wiesblatt & Hunter St. Martin // The Tigers entered the zone and completed a passing play with Wiesblatt finding McKenna alone in front of Pyne and he put a shot past the Pats netminder to even the score at 1-1.
2-1 Tigers at 18:28 - Oasiz Wiesblatt (21), assisted by Gavin McKenna & Tomas Mrsic (PP) // McKenna's shot from the high slot is tipped home by Wiesblatt past a partially screened Pyne to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead late in the opening period.
Second Period
3-1 Tigers at 2:12 - Andrew Basha (21), assisted by Bogdans Hodass & Zach Zahara // Hodass's pass bounced off a Pats defender to Basha who ended up with room and fired the puck far side to extend the Tigers lead to 3-1.
4-1 Tigers at 7:22 - Andrew Basha (22), assisted by Gavin McKenna & Bogdans Hodass // Basha sent a harmless-looking wrist shot towards the Pats net that got through a partially screened Pyne to extend the Tigers lead to 4-1.
Third Period
4-2 Pats at 1:28 - Sam Oremba (15), assisted by Anthony Wilson // Wilson took the puck deep into the Tigers zone, and near the goal line, he sent a centering pass to Oremba who made no mistake to pull the Pats to within a pair at 4-2.
5-2 Tigers at 6:09 - Oasiz Wiesblatt (22), assisted by Andrew Basha & Gavin McKenna (PP) // Wiesblatt one-timed a shot past Pyne from the middle slot to give the Tigers a 5-2 lead.
