Alley Cats Rally to Beat Sun Kings

Anderson, IN (January 22, 2007) - The Indiana Alley Cats rallied to pull out the victory yesterday against the Yakama Sun Kings thanks to an 18 point advantage in the fourth quarter. The win gave the two teams a split in their weekend series. It was also their ninth win in ten games. The Alley Cats picked up five quarter points in the game and improved to 14-9 on the season.

The Alley Cats clung to a one point lead at the end of the first. Yakama stormed back to win the second quarter and take a 59-54 lead into the break. The Sun Kings were also able to take the third quarter and had an eight point advantage going into the final quarter of play. Yakama started to fall apart midway through the fourth. Their head coach Paul Woolpert received his second technical foul of the game and was ejected with 5:03 remaining in the game. At that point the Alley Cats were up by one. Indiana went on to outscore the Sun Kings by nine the rest of the way to preserve the win.

Erick Barkley was Indiana's leading scorer with 23 points to go along with his 6 assists. Shaun Fountain had 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Carl Edwards added 22 points and 8 rebounds. DeAndre Walker tallied 14 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, while Eric Walton had one of his better games with 12 points. The Alley Cats shot 55% from the field and were able to force 22 Yakama turnovers.

Galen Young once again led Yakama with a game-high 36 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists. Chris Alexander had a double-double (14 points and 10 rebounds), while Rocky Walls just missed one (9 points and a game-high 14 rebounds). Elvin Mims had 13 points and Greg Stevenson contributed 10 in the loss. The Sun Kings held a decisive edge on the boards, 47-32. The Sun Kings fell to 17-7 on the season.

The Alley Cats will hit the road to take on the Utah Eagles on Thursday night. Tip off is set for 9:05 eastern.
