Alley Cats Lose a Tough One in Butte

Butte, MT (December 30, 2006) - The Indiana Alley Cats lost a hard fought battle on the road in overtime last night against the Butte Daredevils, 110-107. The Alley Cats played short handed for most of the game. Carl Edwards was injured after running headfirst into a courtside table. He left the game in the second quarter and did not return. The Alley Cats were able to pick up 3 quarter points in the loss. They jumped out to an early lead at the end of the first quarter, 25-23. Butte came back to win the second quarter by 4 and take a 48-46 halftime lead. The Alley Cats were able to win both quarters in the second half. They won the third quarter 31-30 and the fourth quarter 22-21 to force overtime. They lost the overtime period by 3, which dropped them to 1-3 in overtime games. The Alley Cats fall to 5-8 on the season with the loss.

J.J. Sullinger led Indiana with 33 points on 13 of 23 shooting from the field. He also grabbed 7 rebounds. Erick Barkley had a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, but struggled from the field shooting only 6 of 23. Shaun Fountain had another good all around game, as he tallied 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. DeAndre Walker also had a double double with 13 points and a team-high 12 rebounds. Eric Walton rounded out the Alley Cats scorers in double figures with 10.

The Daredevils had a well-balanced scoring attack. They finished with 6 players in double figures. They were led by David Bell, who came off the bench to finish with 19 points. Odell Bradley and Clyde Jordan also came off the bench and tallied 18 and 16 points, respectively. Nick VanderLaan just missed a double double, as he finished with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Odartley Blankson also contributed 14 points and 8 rebounds in the victory. The Daredevils move to 4-5 on the year with the victory.

The Alley Cats return home from their road trip with a game against the Minot Skyrockets on New Year's Eve. Game time is scheduled for 3:00. Following that game, they will be back on the road against Minot on January 2nd.
