Alley Cats Escape with a Victory in Great Falls

Anderson, IN (January 31, 2007) - The Indiana Alley Cats escaped with a one point victory over the Great Falls Explorers Tuesday night, 102-101. After Shaun Fountain made two free throws to put the Alley Cats up by three points with nine seconds to go, Eric Strand missed a three pointer with one second remaining that would have tied it. Marlyn Bryant grabbed the offensive board and slammed it home as time expired to make it official. The victory gave Indiana a 10-2 mark in January. With the win, the Alley Cats climbed to within .21 quarter points per game of division-leading Albany. Indiana (16-10) picked up five quarter points in the victory.
The Explorers won the first quarter 32-28. The Alley Cats came back to win the second and take a 54-53 lead at the break. Former NBA player, Erick Barkley, had 13 points for the Alley Cats in the first half. Malik Moore led all scorers with 18 first half points for Great Falls. The Explorers won the third quarter by two points, before Indiana came through in the fourth, winning it by two points.
Barkley paced Indiana with 24 points and 4 assists. J.J. Sullinger posted a double-double (14 points and 11 rebounds). Carl Edwards tallied 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals. Shaun Fountain added 19 points and 4 assists. The Alley Cats shot 45% from the beyond the arc and forced 25 Great Falls turnovers.
Moore led Great Falls with 24 points. Keith Salscheider was close behind, finishing with 19 points. Eric Strand posted a double-double (12 points and 12 rebounds), while Javon Harris finished with 12 points and 4 rebounds. The Explorers fell to 13-10 on the season.
