
Alley Cats Complete Sweep on Road Trip

Pittsburgh, PA (January 4, 2007) - The Indiana Alley Cats made it a perfect road trip tonight by beating the Pittsburgh Xplosion, 110-105. The Alley Cats went 2-0 on this road trip and have put together a 3 game winning streak. They won 5 quarter points in the victory and improved to .500 on the season with an 8-8 record. They also moved to 4-0 against Pittsburgh on the season.
The Alley Cats fell behind early, trailing 30-27 at the end of the first quarter. Kevin Pittsnogle and Marc Williams got Pittsburgh out to the early lead by each tallying 9 points in the quarter. Indiana was able to put together a huge second quarter, in which they dominated Pittsburgh. They took a 57-47 lead into the break thanks to a 30-17 advantage in the quarter. Shaun Fountain paced the Alley Cats with 13 first half points, while DeAndre Walker chipped in 12. It also helped that Indiana was able to force 14 Xplosion turnovers while only committing 6 themselves. The third quarter went back and forth, but Indiana prevailed 28-27, taking an 11 point lead in the final quarter. They ended up losing the fourth quarter, but held on to win the game by 5 points.
Indiana was once again led by Fountain who finished with a game-high 27 points to go along with his 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Chris Garnett, who gave the team a lift in the third quarter, completed a double-double (15 points and 10 rebounds). Walker just missed one with 12 points and 8 rebounds. Erick Barkley had another great all around performance, finishing with 20 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. J.J. Sullinger was the other Alley Cat to finish in double figures. He tallied 19 points and 7 rebounds.
Kevin Pittsnogle, who was just named the CBA Player of the Week, paced the Xplosion with 26 points and 7 rebounds. Shawn Hawkins, the son of NBA Hall of Famer Connie Hawkins, had a triple-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Meanwhile, Marvin Phillips turned in a double-double (23 points and 13 rebounds). Marc Williams also had an impressive game, finishing with 22 points and 8 assists. Pittsburgh fell to 1-13 on the season with the loss.
The Alley Cats return home this Sunday to take on the Minot Skyrockets. Tip off is set for 3:00 at the Wigwam.
