Alley Cats Come up Short Against the Daredevils

Anderson, IN (January 28, 2007) - The Butte Daredevils used a key third quarter run to defeat the Indiana Alley Cats, 129-120, this afternoon at the Wigwam. The Daredevils dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Alley Cats 48-20. It was only Indiana's second loss in their last twelve games. The game also gave the Daredevils a split of the two game series. The Alley Cats were able to pick up two quarter points in the loss. They fell to 15-10 on the season.
The Daredevils came out firing and took a 31-21 lead after one quarter of play. The Alley Cats fought back strong in the second quarter and were able to make it a one point deficit at the half. J.J. Sullinger had 14 points for the Alley Cats in the first half, while Nick VanderLaan, the reigning CBA Player of the Week, had 16 for Butte. The turning point in the game came in the third quarter, when Butte outscored Indiana by ten and took an eleven point lead heading into the fourth. Indiana was able to win the fourth, but came up short in the game.
Shaun Fountain was Indiana's leading scorer with a game-high 34 points and 8 assists. Carl Edwards added 27 points, while Sullinger had 22 points and a team-high 7 rebounds. Erick Barkley contributed 16 points and 5 assists. The Alley Cats shot 55% from the field and forced 18 Daredevil turnovers.
VanderLaan led Butte with 24 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Ronald Ross had a great all-around game, finishing with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. Odartey Blankson tallied 22 points and Odell Bradley had 20 points. The Daredevils improved to 10-12 on the season.
The Alleys Cats will head to Great Falls to begin a four game road trip. They are set to play the Explorers on Tuesday at 9:05 EST.
