Allen to assume General Manager position full time

Dayton Silverbacks News Release

When the Miami Valley Silverbacks take the field in 2009, it will be under the direction of a new head coach.

Coach Carl Allen has been promoted to full-time General Manager of the Continental Indoor Football League franchise after serving in both capacities last season. Matthew King will remain as the President of the Silverbacks.

Allen led the Silverbacks to their lone playoff appearance in the franchise's three years in 2007. He will be in charge of the day to day operations of the team, personnel, sponsorship, community relations as well as the team.

"I felt like it was time for me to stick with the front office," Allen said. "I want to bring in a coaching staff and let them do what they need to do to be successful.

"I am excited about this. I am looking forward to moving ahead and helping the organization grow."

By becoming the General Manager full time, King believes it will help Allen channel his energy into the organization instead of dividing his time between the two positions.

"Carl has been with us a long time and has been through a lot of ups and downs," King said. "He started with me in a different organization as an assistant coach and has worked his way up.

"I have nothing but confidence in his abilities. It is time to take him off the field so he can focus on helping the organization continue to grow."

Owner Jeff Kolaczkowski believes the promotion of Allen is a natural step in the continued growth of the area's longest running professional indoor football team.

"He has a lot of experience," Kolaczkowski said. "He has seen the organization through good times and hard times. There is a lot of things that go into running a team behind the scenes and this allows him to concentrate on those efforts.

"It is a natural step. As we continue to expand as an organization, we need to expand as a staff as well."

Allen has already begun searching for the third head coach in Silverbacks history, but has not set a time table on the announcement of his successor on the field.
