Sioux Falls Storm News Release
The Sioux Falls Storm of United Indoor Football (UIF) is pleased to announce the re-signing of linebacker and team captain Mark Blackburn for the 2007 season. Blackburn will be returning for his fifth season in a Storm uniform. Last season, Blackburn broke Donny Hilsenroth's record for most tackles in a career. Blackburn was involved in 120 tackles during the 2006 regular season to bring his career total to 423. The 6'2, 230 lb. Blackburn has led the team in tackles for each of the last three seasons. Mark was named to the All-UIF first team in 2005 and 2006. Blackburn's 124 tackles in 2005 marked the second most in a season in Storm history.
The former University of South Dakota star led the 2006 Storm defense to numerous UIF records including least amount of points allowed in a season with 384 and lowest amount of rushing yards allowed in a season with 820.
Storm President Colin Steen says, "Mark is a dominate player and a fan favorite here in Sioux Falls. Not only does our defense look to him for leadership, but the entire team and our entire team does as well. There is a reason we've played in 3 straight championship games, and getting Mark back will gives us that shot again."
Season tickets for the 2007 season are on sale now. Call the Storm office at 332-4225 to reserve your seats for 'The Greatest Show in Town" as the Storm look for three championships in a row in 2007.
