ORLANDO - The Orlando Predators added another ArenaBowl champion to its roster on Friday with the assignment of three-time All-Arena defensive back Eddie Moten (5'10, 190, Texas A&M Kingsville).

Moten, who adds further depth to the position, won a title with new Preds head coach Bret Munsey in 2008 to cap off three seasons together with the Philadelphia Soul.

"I felt that in those three years he was as good as anybody in the secondary throughout the Arena Football League," Munsey said. "He's a great man-cover guy who is very competitive and mentally tough. He's also willing to make tackles out on the field and that's the kind of athlete we're looking to bring in."

Moten spent 2010 with the Dallas Vigilantes and 2011 with the San Jose SaberCats after a stint in the United Football League.

During his first six seasons in the AFL, Moten has totaled 37 interceptions for 587 return yards and seven touchdowns. He also has 101 pass defenses and 401 solo tackles to his credit.

"It was a no-brainer for me," Moten said of joining the Preds. "Munsey is my guy and we have a lot of trust in each other. I have a lot of respect for him and he has a lot of knowledge of the game."

Moten spent four seasons in Philadelphia where he became the all-time leader in interceptions, pass defenses and tackles. He tied for the AFL's all-time single-season interception record with 13 picks in 2006, a mark that stood before being eclipsed this past season.

In seven postseason games for the Soul, Moten notched six interceptions, 10 pass defenses and 48 tackles as he helped lead Philadelphia to an ArenaBowl XXII victory over San Jose.

He spent last season appearing in 12 games with the SaberCats, where he ranked second on the team in tackles (58) and intercepted four passes for 43 yards. He also was credited with 10 pass breakups and a fumble recovery.

While playing in seven games for Dallas he recorded 39.5 tackles, 12 pass defenses and two interceptions.

Moten also spent time with the UFL's California Redwoods in 2009. He began his professional playing career with the arenafootball2's Rio Grande Valley Dorados in 2004, where he earned first-team all-league honors as he led all players with 10 interceptions.

Entering his seventh season in the AFL, Moten already knows what to expect once he arrives to training camp and prepares for his first season in "The Jungle" at Amway Center.

"I've played several games down there and have never won in Orlando," Moten said. "I'm a guy that's going to come in and leave it all out on the field and do my part to help the younger guys bring a title to town."
