Alfonzo named ADT Defensive Player of the Week

Chicago Rush News Release
Chicago Rush linebacker DeJuan Alfonzo has been named the Arena Football League's ADT Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Chicago's 61-40 win over New York on Sunday, the AFL announced today.
Alfonzo recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown, and intercepted a Rohan Davey pass during a 34-0 second half run that gave the Rush its second win of the season.
"This is a well deserved honor for DeJuan," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "He works so hard to put himself in the right position on the field at all times. Nobody studies more film of an opponent than he does. Therefore, it is never a surprise when he is the first one to pick up a loose ball, intercept an errant pass or tip a pass over the middle."
One of Chicago's defensive stars, Alfonzo leads the team with 22 tackles and two fumble recoveries this season and is tied for the team lead with two interceptions.
Chicago (2-1) looks to extend its winning streak to three when the team travels to Columbus Saturday to take on the Destroyers (1-1) at Nationwide Arena.
