Colorado Mammoth News Release

DENVER -The National Lacrosse League announced today that Colorado Mammoth forward Alex Gajic has been named the league's Week #10 Rookie of the Week. A five-goal, one-assist performance on Saturday night against the Edmonton Rush earned Alex his second Rookie of the Week honor in as many games.

"I am very proud of Alex's progression this season," said Mammoth President, General Manager and Head Coach Steve Govett. "He has become a shining light on our offense and it's exciting to see what he's going to do next."

Gajic, the fifth-overall pick in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft, credited his teammates for getting him involved in the offense and setting him up for his scoring opportunities.

"The right-handers I play with were looking for me a lot on Saturday," said Gajic. "Langtry and Conway played great and hit me for some quick-stick goals and some great pick-and-roll plays as well."

Despite Gajic scoring on five of the 11 shots he took, the Mammoth was unable to defeat the Rush.

"I would consider it a great success for myself," continued Gajic, "but with the way we have been losing, I'm not really thinking about my own successes right now."

Instead, Alex is focused on making sure that the Mammoth wins its next game.

"We are clicking well as a team, but we really need to work on coming out strong in the first half," said Gajic. "We are a great second-half team, but we always seem to go into the second half down by four or five goals. We need to cut down on the mental mistakes and turnovers in the first half so we can carry momentum into the second."

The Mammoth's next game is Friday, March 26 at 7pm at Pepsi Center as it hosts the West Division-leading Washington Stealth on Blackout Cancer Night. Tickets are on sale now.
