Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
Albuquerque, NM - With the game tied at 3-3 in the seventh inning, the Isotopes broke the contest open with eight runs over the final two innings to secure an 11-3 victory Wednesday night at Isotopes Park.
Offensively, the Isotopes registered 14 hits, four doubles, two triples and two homers. Carlos Pérez and Jonathan Morales led the way with three RBI and a homer each. Three other Isotopes recorded multi-hit efforts: D.J. Peterson, Pérez and Wynton Bernard. Sam Hilliard and Bernard each tallied two RBI.
The Isotopes jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the second inning on Pérez' leadoff homer, his 13 on the year, and on Morales' RBI single. Sugar Land matched the two runs to tie the game in the top of third on a Korey Lee RBI triple and Pedro Leon RBI groundout.
After three innings of zeroes, the Space Cowboys scratched a run across on a David Hensley RBI groundout, taking a 3-2 advantage. Albuquerque knotted the game at 3-3 on Morales' second RBI single of the night.
The Isotopes plated three runs in the seventh frame to take a 6-3 lead. Hilliard connected on an RBI double while Pérez drove in two with a single. An inning later, Albuquerque put the game out of reach with five-spot.
José Ureña did not factor into the decision but tossed 6.0 innings of three-run ball for his first quality start with the Isotopes. Logan Cozart picked up his first win of the year after a perfect seventh inning. Cozart, Julian Fernandez and Jordan Sheffield allowed just one hit and one walk over the final three frames.
