Albany Conquest and NYSUT to register voters at Friday's home game

Albany, N.Y., June 22, 2004 – The Albany Conquest of arenafootball2 have teamed up with New York State United Teachers to help register voters at the next Conquest home game against the Green Bay Blizzard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday (June 25) at the Pepsi Arena in Albany, N.Y.

Also participating in the voter registration drive are the Albany NAACP, the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement, the 100 Black Men of Albany, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades D.C. 9, the Greater Albany Chapter of Jack and Jill, and Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA). There will be voter registration tables on the Pepsi Arena concourse throughout the game.

NYSUT has also been involved with the Conquest’s fundraising program that provides a portion of advance ticket sales for the June 25 game to promote voter registration.

NYSUT, the largest union in New York State, represents more than 500,000 classroom teachers and other school employees and retirees; academic and professional faculty at the state's community colleges, State University of New York and City University of New York; and other education and health professionals. NYSUT is affiliated with the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO.

The Albany Conquest’s game on Friday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m. against the Green Bay Blizzard at Pepsi Arena in Albany, N.Y. will feature a full post-game concert by The Alabama Blues Brothers Band.
