Alaska Wild News Release
As the Holiday Season approaches, the Alaska Wild is proud to announce eight newly signed players for our 2008 season. The newly signed players are, Offensive Lineman Roger Neadeau Jr., Linebacker Cedrick Dewberry, Defensive Lineman Sander Moore, Quarterback Eddie Echols, Defensive Back Che' Andre Wade, Wide Receiver/Defensive Back Andre Moore, Wide Receivers Jamil Wynn and Curtis Morrow.
Offensive Lineman Roger Neadeau Jr. (6'3ft, 300lbs.) attended Channel Islands high school in Oxnard, CA where he was a two-time All-League Offensive Lineman. Neadeau Jr. went on to play Junior college football at Moorpark City College, CA. (1998-1999) and became a two-time All-Conference selection. Roger attended San Jose State University after his Junior college experience and made a strong contribution to the San Jose State University football program as an Offensive Lineman. Last year, Neadeau Jr. played for the West Coast Sharks semi-professional football team of the LaBelle Community Football League in Southern California. The signing of Roger Neadeau Jr. adds size to the Alaska Wild offensive line.
Linebacker Cedrick Dewberry (6'1ft, 205lbs.) played college ball at Evangel University (Springfield, Mo.) and is a hard hitting machine added to the Wild's defense. "I believe Mr. Dewberry will show the other teams in the IFL what it means to get hit by a ton of bricks" said Alaska Wild Defensive Coordinator Abe Hernandez. Dewberry was honored as a three time all-conference player in the Heart of America Conference. Dewberry also was had the honor of being a two-time NAIA All-American. In his college career, Dewberry amassed over 300 tackles. Dewberry's defensive abilities should be greatly enjoyed by Wild fans during the 2008 season.
Coming from his home state of Maryland, Defensive Lineman Sander "Sandman" Moore (6'5ft, 265lbs.), is a tremendous football player. Moore played in the German Football League, for the Hamburg Blue Devils during the 2007 season. Moore is a capable player on both offensive and defensive lines. Moore can also play at the Tight End position. Moore played college football at Winston Salem State and Mississippi Valley State University. Sander is a very hard working football player whose main goal is to help the Alaska Wild win the IFL championship. In 2005, Moore graduated from Winston Salem State University with a degree in business management.
In 2007, Quarterback Eddie "Blues" Echols (6'2ft, 215lbs.), played professional football overseas for the Langenfeld Longhorns of the German Football League. Echols will be familiar with the 50 yard indoor game, since he came very close in making the Colorado Crush of the Arena Football League (AFL) at their combine in 2007. Echols college experiences include St. Paul College (MN.) and Montgomery College (MD). "Eddie will definitely challenge for the starting quarterback position in the Wild's 2008 season" said AK Wild Coach Hans Deemer.
Defensive Back Che' Andre Wade (6'2ft, 185lbs.), had two college stops before coming to the Alaska Wild for the 2008 season. Wade's first college playing experience was at Winston-Salem State University. Later, Wade took his talents to Averett University (VA.). Wade's college coaches speak highly of skills as a defensive and special team performer. With Andre's height and a 38 inch vertical, quarterbacks of the Intense Football League (IFL) will have a tough time completing passes against the Wild this 2008 season.
Wide Receiver/Defensive Back Andre Moore (6'3ft, 195lbs.), out of Southern California, was an all-star athlete at North Hollywood High School. In 2003, Andre went on to play at Glendale Community College (CA.) and as a defensive back had 39 tackles, 6 interceptions and 2 sacks during his time at Glendale Community College. Andre has played for the Valley Trojans of the semi-professional LaBelle Community Football League (LCFL). Andre's stop in the LCFL with the Valley Trojans from 2004-2006 was a very productive one. Andre was named to the LCFL All-Star team three times and was named best defensive back in LCFL three times, while racking up 90 tackles, 15 interceptions and 8 sacks in his LCFL career. In 2007, Andre played professional indoor football for the Los Angeles Lynx of National Indoor Football League (NIFL). "Andre will be everywhere this 2008 season for the Alaska Wild, he also is an excellent kick return specialist", said AK Wild Head Coach Hans Deemer.
Jamil Wynn (6'3ft, 194lbs.) out of Myrtle Point, Oregon will bring a lot of athleticism to the Alaska Wild this season. Wynn has recently been clocked at a 4.38 in the 40-yard dash and has a 42 inch vertical to match. Wynn attended Myrtle Point High School where he was a 4 year starter at Cornerback, Wide Receiver, Punt Return specialist and a Kick Return specialist. Wynn was a first team all-far west league player during all of his 4 years and a first team all-state selection during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons in high school. Wynn also excelled in High School Track and Field, winning state championships in the 110 high hurdles, long jump (3 times) and triple jump (3 times). Wynn attended Western Oregon University, where he played the Cornerback position from 2001-2005. Wynn's college career statistics are impressive, with 126 tackles, 1 sack, 7 interceptions, 3 fumble recoveries, 4 forced fumbles and 29 pass break ups. In 2005, Wynn led the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in pass break ups. Wynn also was an All-American at Long Jump. The AK Wild's plan for Wynn is to utilize his speed on the offense side of the ball and in doing that should equal a lot of touchdowns this season.
A familiar face to the Intense Football League, but new to the Alaska Wild is Wide Receiver Curtis Morrow (6'0ft, 215lbs.), a Offensive Weapon out of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Morrow is known for his hands and work ethic. He will join the Wild in 2008 and add depth to a receiver core that's packed with potential big play makers. Morrow attended high school in Lake Charles and earned a scholarship to Gambling State University. Morrow played for various National Indoor Football League teams in the past like the Waco Marshals, the Lubbock Gunn, and the Monroe Gators. Morrow recently played in the IFL with the Louisiana Swashbucklers. Morrow will bring great professional indoor football experience and knowledge to the Alaska Wild organization.
The Alaska Wild is part of the Intense Football League (IFL). Founded in 2003, the IFL consists of a record nine professional indoor football teams, three of which are located outside of Texas, the Louisiana Swashbucklers of Lake Charles, the Alaska Wild of Anchorage, Alaska and the recently added Fairbanks Grizzlies of Fairbanks, Alaska. Texas teams include the CenTex Barracudas of Belton, Corpus Christi Hammerheads, Odessa Roughnecks, San Angelo Stampede Express, Katy Ruff Riders, and Frisco Thunder.
