Alabama's WHA2 Franchise Closing in on Name

The Alabama Professional Hockey Team, the newest expansion franchise of the World Hockey Association 2 has announced today its final four name suggestions based on the franchises "Name the Team" contest.

Conducted by the Alabama Professional Hockey Team in conjunction with WJOX AM 690, the "Name the Team" contest received over 1,200 submissions. The four most popular Team names suggested were the Alabama Hammers, Alabama Vulcans, Alabama Slammers, and the Alabama Freeze.

"We knew there was a built in fan base of hockey fans in the area, but we were overwhelmed by the incredible response to this contest," said Team President, Taylor Hall. "Our fans came up with some great name suggestions and to pick a winner out of the top four is going to tough."

Fans may now vote on which team name they like the most from the four finalists by visiting www.alabamaprohockey.com or by visiting the team's administrative offices located inside the Pelham Civic Complex. Fans can also fax in their favorite name to WJOX AM 690 at 917-1906. The team's name along with the team's colors and logo will be unveiled in the weeks to come.

The winner of the "Name the Team" contest will receive a FREE pair of season tickets for the team's upcoming WHA2 season and an autographed team jersey. In the event more than one person has suggested the winning name, then the person's names will be placed into a drawing to determine a final winner. The other finalists will receive a FREE pair of tickets to the team's opening night game.

Season tickets for the soon to be named Alabama Professional Hockey Team are currently on sale and start at just $67/month.
