Alabama Hammers: Game 2 Preview
March 31, 2015 - Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL)
Alabama Hammers News Release
The Alabama Hammers will be on the road again this week traveling to Richmond, Va. to face the Raiders for game two of the 2015 Professional Indoor Football League (PIFL) season. The Hammers opened the season schedule last week with a 34-26 win over the Nashville Venom in the Music City. Richmond has two games under its belt with both contests on the short end losing to both the Trenton Freedom (33-41) and the Columbus Lions (50-52).
This week's game is scheduled for Saturday, April 4, with kickoff at 6:00 p.m. CDT.
"Richmond has several play makers offensively and have a defensive secondary that can make stops when given the opportunity," said Scott Sharp head coach of the Hammers. "The Raiders have played two quarterbacks, so we're not sure which of the two we'll see. They are hungry to get that first win."
The Hammers look to starting quarterback Garret Sufphen to get the ball to a corps of receivers featuring Mico McSwain and Charle McClain, both of whom had outstanding games in the season opener. On defense, hard hits and takeaways is what Sharp will be looking for from the squad that held Nashville to six points in the second half.
"We didn't have a perfect game last week, but we did play well and we'll have to be physical against a good Richmond team," said Sharp. "We look to improve and may make a couple personnel changes."
The game can be heard on the Hammers Radio Network including WAFN-FM, 92.7 Fun Radio-Arab, WZZN-FM, 97.7 The Zone-Huntsville and WWIC-AM, 1050-Scottsboro. Michael St. John and Steve Moulton will call the action.
