
AirHogs March Onto Elite Eight

Grand Prairie, Texas - The Grand Prairie AirHogs of the American Association of Professional Baseball are one step away from the Final Four in the CNBC.com minor league baseball logo contest. The #9 seeded AirHogs won a closely contested battled against the #13 seeded Peoria Chiefs in the Sweet Sixteen by a 52 to 48 percent margin, which concluded at 9 A.M. eastern time on Tuesday morning.
"Winning against Peoria in such a tightly fought match-up shows the resilience of our fan base," said Dave Burke, AirHogs General Manager. "We must now band together to push the AirHogs into the Final Four."
The contest was created by CNBC.com Sports Business writer Darren Rovell and features 64 different minor league baseball logos going at it for the honor of being named the best in the USA. Each team will face-off with other opponents based on their seeding, with winners advancing to the next round based on reader votes. Grand Prairie will be back up for vote on Thursday March, 27 2008 against the #3 seeded Southern Illinois Miners. Voting begins at 9 A.M. eastern time.
The Grand Prairie AirHogs' inaugural American Association baseball season starts on May 8, 2008, with the home opener on Friday, May 16, against the Wichita Wingnuts at their brand-new stadium located in between Lone Star Park and the Nokia Theater.
