After an off-day Sunday, the 2005 Calder Cup Playoffs resume tonight with two contests, including Game 3 of the North Division Final between Rochester and Manitoba (8:30 ET)... The teams are in Winnipeg for three games this week after splitting two at the Blue Cross Arena... The Moose have won five straight at the MTS Centre by a combined score of 22-8, but Rochester had the AHL's best road record this season at 24-11-1-4... All of the Americans' offense in the series came during an 11½-minute stretch late in Game 1, when they scored four times... Wade Flaherty made 31 saves on Friday night for his third career Calder Cup Playoff shutout... It was the first shutout loss for the Amerks since Oct. 26, a 4-0 loss at Grand Rapids... Rochester was 11-3-0-1 in Canada this season.
Game 3 at Cincinnati Gardens tonight (7:35 ET) has the Mighty Ducks in a 2-0 hole as they prepare to host Chicago... Cincinnati has won 10 straight home games... The Wolves pulled out a win on Saturday on Karl Stewart's shorthanded goal with 43.3 seconds left in regulation... Michael Garnett made his first career AHL playoff start postseason in place of an injured Kari Lehtonen and made 35 saves, including 21 in the second period... Cincinnati's Joffrey Lupul has recorded a point in five straight games (6a)... Defenseman Aaron Rome, who scored twice in 75 regular-season games, is tied for the Ducks' team lead with three playoff goals.
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton got in the win column on Saturday night, as Colby Armstrong and Matt Hussey scored 20 seconds apart early in the third period, breaking a scoreless tie and sending the Penguins on their way to a 3-1 win over Philadelphia in Game 3 of the East Division Final... Andy Chiodo made 19 saves on the evening, allowing only a Patrick Sharp power-play goal with 2:45 to play... The Phantoms still hold a 2-1 series lead with Game 4 scheduled for Tuesday at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.
In the Atlantic Division, Lowell rebounded from Friday's 5-4 loss with a dominating 4-0 win over Providence in Game 2 on Saturday... Chuck Kobasew scored twice and Cam Ward made 27 saves for his second shutout in his last three games... Chad Larose added a power-play goal, and Eric Staal scored on a penalty shot late in the third period... With things even at one game apiece, the teams are back at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell for Game 3 on Wednesday night.

In action at the 2005 World Championships, Cleveland's Marcel Goc scored twice and Binghamton's Christoph Schubert added three assists today as Germany beat Slovenia, 9-1, in a relegation-round game... In play on Sunday, Portland Pirates graduate Alexander Semin scored the winning goal for Russia in a 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic.
