
Aggressive Play By Brian Dougherty Halts the Barrage\'s Success

Villanova, PA- In front of an audience of 2,207, the Long Island Lizards shattered the hopes of the Barrage for their first win of the season. Despite a strong second half by the Barrage, the Lizards were able to come away with their second win of the season, 14-12.
Philadelphia's newly acquired player Mike Mollot showed the team what he knew how to do, getting on the score board at 11:42. Michael Springer tallied two points for the quarter with a goal and an assist, as well as a goal from Roy Colsey. Long Island's Chris Massey scored a hatrick in the first quarter, with AJ Haugen, Kevin Finneran, and Tim Goettelmann all notching one goal a piece.
The Barrage started playing catch-up in the second quarter with 2 goals from Blake Miller and another form Colsey. Finneran, a Philadelphia "local", added another goal for the Lizards, creating an 8-6 lead. Brian Spallina of Philadelphia got a slashing penalty with a minute left, allowing Jay Jalbert of Long Island to score off of a man-up situation. The score at the half was 9-6.
Philadelphia outscored Long Island 5-3 in the third quarter, giving the team hopes that they could pull away with a win. Michael Springer racked up 4 points in the quarter (3g, 1a) as well as Liam Banks, Mollot, and Miller all adding a goal. Massey, Finneran, and Haugen all struck again for Long Island.
A fast paced fourth quarter proved to not be enough time for the Barrage to come away with a win. Despite the valiant effort of the Barrage to come back from behind, they were unable to meet the challenge. Springer notched another goal for Philadelphia, while Kevin Finneran added his fourth goal of the night, along with Jared Testa's first goal.
Although Kevin Finneran and Brian Dougherty are from Philadelphia, they did not show any mercy against the Barrage. Finneran was the Bud Light MVP of the game with a total of 6 points (4g, 2a) while "Doc" had 21 saves. Greg Cattrano played a solid game for Philadelphia in the cage with 21 saves, but Long Island was able to out score Philadelphia with three of their players tallying 4 points or more. (Massey (4g), Haugen (2g,2a), Finneran (4g,2a)). Philadelphia's Michael Springer was the point leader for the night collecting a total of 6 points (4g,2a) while Blake Miller(3g), Mike Mollot(2g,1a), and Roy Colsey(2g,1a) all racked up three points for the night. Philadelphia will play again Saturday June 12th at 4:00 against the New Jersey Pride on Sprague Field.
