AFL Players Featured In New Discover Card Commercials

NEW YORK - The Arena Football League's Chicago Rush co-owner MIKE DITKA, head coach MIKE HOHENSEE and several Rush players, including QB SHERDRICK BONNER, WR DAMIAN HARRELL and OL/DL JOHN MOYER, will star in a series of three television commercials for Discover® Card, the AFL, Discover Card and the Rush announced today. The commercials will begin airing next week on national and regional broadcasts of AFL games as well as in AFL arenas across the country.
The series of commercials, which were written and produced by Element 79 and shot earlier this month at Allstate Arena, illustrate how Discover Card's involvement with the AFL offers fans incomparable access to the game and its players.
"Discover and the AFL have a shared mission to consistently exceed our customers' expectations," said Julie Loeger, senior vice-president of brand & product management for Discover Financial Services. "These commercials give Chicago Rush and AFL fans a glimpse of the meaningful benefits we provide as part of our partnership and show all the ways Discover Card gets you closer to the game than anyone else."
"I had a blast shooting the commercial," said Hohensee. "I now have a new appreciation for actors as our 30 second commercial took six hours to shoot. I can't wait to see how it is received."
In "Halftime Speech," Hohensee is addressing his players in the locker room, working to motivate them for a second-half comeback. Right in the middle of the huddle - ready to go out on the field and run through a wall for the coach - is a fan wearing a Discover Card shirt.
"Tape" features Rush wide receiver Harrell having his ankle taped in the training room. Instead of a licensed athletic trainer, Harrell is being taped by an overzealous fan in a Discover Card shirt.
Finally, while Chicago DL DEMETRIOS WALKER tries to relax in "Whirlpool," a fan in the pool with him wants to compare injuries.
