AFL Launches "Survival" Fantasy Football

March 11, 2011 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release

TULSA, OKLA. - The Arena Football League has launched a new web-based fantasy football game entitled "Survival Football: Wall to Wall Brawl." Fans may register to play on ArenaFootball.com.

The League will function under "Survival" rules, where players and teams may only be selected once by each participant during the season. Picks will reset after Week 12 and points will double for the remainder of the season. Winners will be crowned following Week 18 of the Arena Football League season.

Fans will be able to select lineups of five players each week: one quarterback, two receivers, one kicker and a team defense. Scores will be calculated to determine both weekly and season point leaders.

The game will be open for picks every Tuesday and Wednesday during the season. For Week 1, however, picks will be open until kickoff of the first game.

Results of the previous week will be posted on the Thursday morning following the last game of the week.

Standard fantasy rules apply, with points being awarded for offensive yardage and touchdowns and deducted for offensive turnovers. Team defenses will also earn points for holding opponents to low scores, creating turnovers and scoring points.

The 24th season of the AFL will kick off at 8 p.m. EST tonight with in-state rivals and expansion teams, Ron Jaworski's Philadelphia Soul at Lynn Swann's Pittsburgh Power, on NFL Network.
