AFL, Champs Sports Continue Partnership
January 30, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
NEW YORK - The Arena Football League and Champs Sports have agreed to extend their partnership designating Champs Sports as the AFL's Official Athletic Retailer through the 2008 season. The extension comes as the AFL enters the second week of its 20th season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"When Champs Sports originally came on board with the AFL, we knew that we needed a retail presence to solidify our credibility and relevance with the sports consumer. Our fan base continues to grow significantly each year and one of the reasons for that growth is the out-of-arena relationship with Champs Sports," said President, AFL Properties, GLENN HORINE.
As part of the extension, Champs Sports will receive a mid-field turf square as well as integrated on-field promotions, video spots and announcements through ArenaBowl XXII. Advertising in national and regional broadcasts on NBC and FSN, the AFL Preview Magazine, ArenaBowl programs and arenafootball.com are also included.
"We are proud to strengthen our existing relationship with the Arena Football League by continuing our partnership," said RON HALLS, President and CEO of Champs Sports. "We look forward to working with the league to bring the excitement and energy of the game to our customers, who are true sports enthusiasts, in a unique and entertaining manner."
Champs Sports is a part of Foot Locker, Inc., an athletic specialty retailer that operates approximately 4,000 stores in 20 countries in North America, Europe and Australia. Through its Foot Locker, Lady Foot Locker, Kids Foot Locker, and Champs Sports retail stores, as well as its direct-to-consumer channel Footlocker.com/Eastbay, the company is the leading provider of athletic footwear and apparel.
