
AFL Attendance Up 10 Percent

CHICAGO (July 15, 2002) â For the seventh consecutive season, the Arena Football League has surpassed the one-million mark in attendance. The league has drawn a total of 1,032,679 fans to 104 games, an average of 9,930 fans per game with one week remaining in the regular season (July 18-21).
This season's 9,930 fans per game represents a 10.3 percent increase through 13 weeks vs. 2001, when the league averaged 9,006 fans per game.
The top crowd to date this season was at America West Arena in Phoenix, Ariz. on Friday, July 12, where a crowd of 17,034 witnessed the Arizona Rattlers knock off the previously-undefeated San Jose SaberCats, 59-52.
This past week marks the seventh time this season the AFL has drawn more than 80,000 fans for the weekend.
