AFL Announces 2018 Schedule, Rule Changes and League-Wide Ticketing

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the Arena Football League announced its 2018 schedule along with some exciting new playoff rules changes that guarantee the excitement of a home playoff game in every city and a new league-wide ticket pass that will give fans a chance to experience the fun of arena football on the road. Now, when Valor fans join the Gridiron 365 club by purchasing a season ticket membership, the package will include tickets to see the Valor in each of the opposing teams' markets.

The 2018 Valor regular season, presented by Capital One Bank, kicks off with the Valor's matchup with the Baltimore Brigade on Fri., April 13 at 7 p.m. at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore, Md. The Valor's home opener is set for Week 2, when Washington welcomes the Albany Empire, playing in their inaugural season, to Capital One Arena on Sat., April 21, at 7 p.m.

"We are excited about the upcoming season and look forward to the opportunity to play at Capital One Arena in front of our loyal fan base," Valor head coach Dean Cokinos said. "The schedule, league structure and new playoff format will create built-in rivalries that make this season highly competitive and tremendously entertaining."

"We are excited to announce some exciting changes for the 2018 season that we believe will bring fans even closer to the game -- both at home and on the road. These changes guarantee the excitement of a home playoff game in every city, and give fans a chance to experience the fun of an away game."

ADDITIONAL SCHEDULING NOTES:

The Valor play 12 regular season games in total - six at home and six on the road. Week 5, scheduled for the weekend of May 11-13, will be a bye week for all AFL teams. The Valor close the regular season with three-straight home games (Fri., June 22 vs. Philadelphia; Fri., June 29 vs. Albany; Sat., July 7 vs. Baltimore). Washington is one of two teams with a home stand of three-or-more games. Washington takes on each AFL team four times - two at home and two on the road. The Valor play four games on Friday, seven games on Saturday and one game on Sunday. The Valor play nine night games and three afternoon games. Scheduling for the 2018 AFL postseason will be released at a later date.
