April 29, 2006 - arenafootball2 (af2) News Release
CENTRAL VALLEY COYOTES (2-1) AT EVERETT HAWKS (0-3) SUNDAY, APRIL 30, 2006 - Everett Events Center (8,300) 5:00 P.M. ET The Central Valley Coyotes make their first trip to the state of Washington for a matchup with their new West Division opponents, the Everett Hawks. Both teams should be well rested coming off a bye week. The Coyotes most recent result was a divisional loss at home against Highway 99 rival Bakersfield, 38-28. The defeat was Central Valley's first of the season. Coyotes QB SCOTT RISLOV was under pressure throughout much of the game, resulting in three interceptions. Rislov hadn't thrown an interception in the Coyotes first two games. He was also sacked four times. Coyotes WR/DB LAMONTE JONES played well in defeat, setting a Coyotes career receiving record with eight catches for a career total of 142. The previous record was 137. Rislov finished with 240 yards passing and three touchdowns. Despite Central Valley's season-low point total last week, the Coyotes offense is still near the top of the league. Through three games, Central Valley is averaging 52 points per game. Defense has also been a strong suit of the Coyotes in the early season. As a unit, they allow only 35.3 points per game, which ranks second best in the league. Central Valley also ranks second in the af2 in interceptions with seven and is tied for the league lead in turnover margin at +7. The expansion Hawks are entering this week's game still looking for their first win as a member of the af2. Everett is two weeks removed from a, 44-41, road loss to their new state rivals, the Spokane Shock. Everett QB JULIAN REECE scored four touchdowns on the ground and also threw two touchdown passes. A.J. STREET (8 catches, 86 yards) was on the receiving end of both of Reece's scoring tosses. DS CHARLES DAVIS tallied a game-high 11.5 tackles and had an interception for Everett. The Hawks have had some hard luck so far in 2006, losing all three of their games by six points or less. Reese is their main man on offense. The second-year signal caller leads the league in rushing touchdowns with nine and has also thrown 10 touchdown passes with four interceptions. Street leads the squad in receiving with 17 catches for 200 yards and three scores. Everett's defense will be out to improve on its play. To date, the Hawks defense has forced just three turnovers in three games. WR/DB HASSAN BROCKMAN leads the team on that side with 16 tackles.
