Florida Firecats receiver James Panui made his fifth touchdown reception with 16.7 seconds left in the game to give his team a 68-62 victory over Kentucky. For Florida it was their second straight win improving their record to 2-2, Kentucky dropped to 1-2.
In a battle of new school quarterback vs. old school quarterback, af2 rookie Jared Lorenzen passed for 321 yards seven touchdowns passes and ran for two more for the Horsemen while Firecats quarterback Chris Wallace threw for 256 yards and seven touchdowns and two rushing scores in the win.
Florida won the turnover battle forcing 4 fumbles by Kentucky including a key drop by receiver Harry Lewis with six seconds to play. Florida ran out the clock to secure the win. The pair will meet two more times this season.
The Firecats travel to Huntsville, Alabama next week to battle the Tennessee Valley Vipers in another divisional tilt. Kentucky returns home to host the Milwaukee Iron.
