April 1, 2005 - arenafootball2 (af2)
Louisville Fire News Release

Louisville Fire Head Coach Tommy Johnson announced today that both defensive specialist Arkee Thompson and offensive specialist James Scott have been assigned to the Louisville Fire for the 2005 season.

After a three-year stint with the Carolina Rhinos and one year with the Cincinnati Swarm, Scott came to play for the Fire and saw action in 13 games during the 2004 season. As an offensive specialist (OS) Scott was a key contributor to the Fire's success last season catching 102 passes for 4,538 yards as he scored a total of 24 touchdowns. Scott broke Fire single game records again Memphis last season with 14 receptions for 201 yards and six touchdowns. This type of production will be looked for again from Scott as the Fire takes their high powered offense into the 2005 season.

Also assigned to the Fire is the af2's all-time interception leader (27), Arkee Thompson. As a defensive specialist, Thompson also became the Louisville Fire's single season interception leader with 10 picks during the 2003 season.

After his outstanding 2003 season with the Fire, Thompson went on to play for both the Georgia Force and the Orlando Predators of the Arena Football League during the 2004 season. In 2005 he started out the year playing for the Arena Leagues Philadelphia Soul, but has now been reunited with the Fire. In 2003 Thompson set a Fire single game record with three interceptions in the first half against Tennessee Valley. Both Thompson and the Louisville Fire hope that he can pick up where he left off with them during the 2003 season.

The Fire will open their 2005 home schedule in Freedom Hall on April 15 against the South Georgia Wildcats. Fire season tickets are on sale now starting at $49 and can be purchased by calling (502)368-0009 or visiting www.louisvillefirefootball.com.
