ERIE, PA - Akron lost a defensive battle with Erie and fell 1-0 in front of 2,432 fans Sunday afternoon at Jerry Uht Park. The Aeros (70-71) have now lost five straight overall and four straight to the SeaWolves (66-75).

The lone run of the game came when Alden Carrithers scored in the fifth inning. Carrithers singled to second base and advanced to second on a single by Brandon Douglas. Brandon Jones doubled in the next at-bat and allowed Carrithers to score.

Right-handed starter Steven Wright (2-2) pitched well in his second start this season but did not receive any run support and took the loss. The former Hawaii Warrior allowed just one run on five hits with five strikeouts against one walk. Wright went five innings, his longest outing of the season.

Brooks Brown (12-9) earned after allowing only two hits, three walks and three strikeouts in six innings of work. Lester Oliveros recorded his 14th save of the season.

The Aeros return to action for a 1:05 p.m. Labor Day matinee for their final game of the 2010 campaign. Right-handed pitcher Rob Bryson (1-1, 1.65 ERA) will get the nod against Erie's Anthony Shawler (5-3, 4.67 ERA).
