Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI-The Hershey Bears scored three first period goals and Tomas Fleischmann had a four point night as the Bears beat the Milwaukee Admirals 6-3 to even the best-of-seven Calder Cup Finals at one game apiece. The loss snapped a ten-game winning streak for the Admirals and switched the home-ice advantage over to the Eastern Conference Champs.

After weathering four-minutes of Milwaukee power play time, the Bears got on the board at the 7:32 mark of the first when Lawrence Nycholat picked up his second goal of the series. With the Bears on the power play Nycholat fired a pass that went through the crease and off of Milwaukee defenseman Kevin Klein into the Milwaukee net.

Hershey would get two more goals in the stanza with the first one coming from Boyd Kane at 11:53 and the next by former Admiral Kris Beech at 16:15.

Greg Classen pulled the Ads within two at 3-1 when he scored his first goal of the post season just 49 seconds into the second. With the Admirals on the power-play Classen took a pass from Simon Gamache and fired a one-timer passed Hershey goaltender Frederic Cassivi. It was Classen's first goal of the post-season after 14 assists.

Fleischmann responded for the Bears with a power-play goal at the 9:18 mark of the second to push the Hershey lead back to three at 4-1. Nycholat and Mike Green assisted on the play.

The Admirals would make it 4-2 by the end of the period when Scottie Upshall converted during a five-on-three power play with just 20 seconds left to go. Shea Weber fired a cross ice pass from the left point to Upshall on the goal line. The Fort McMurray, ALTA native collected the puck and sent wrister past Cassivi for his five goal of the post-season.

Simon Gamache made it a one-goal game 1:24 into the third when he poked a loose puck past Cassivi, but that was as close as the Admirals would get as Fleischmann burned Milwaukee again at the 5:41 mark of the third and then Graham Mink closed the scoring with 1:57 to play in the game.

Darren Haydar finished the night with two assists and now leads the league in post-season scoring with 31 points (15g-16a). Gamache chipped in a goal and an assist for the Ads. Pekka Rinne suffered the loss for Milwaukee, marking his first loss since being reassigned from Nashville before the beginning of the Western Division Finals.

The series now takes a week off before shifting to Hershey for games three through five. Game three will be next Saturday at the GIANT Center at 7:00 pm ET. Potential games six and seven would be back at the Bradley Center on Thursday, June 15th at 7:00 pm and game seven would be on Saturday, June 17th, also at 7:00 pm.
