Adrien Leads Vipers Past 66ers

HIDALGO, Texas -- Jeff Adrien led the Rio Grande Valley Vipers to a 99-87 win over the Tulsa 66ers with 23 points and 15 rebounds tonight at State Farm Arena.

The Vipers saw six players in double figures. In addition to Adrien's double-double performance, Mike Singletary added 17 points. Houston Rockets assignment Scott Machado tallied 11 points. Tim Ohlbrecht and Chris Johnson also added 11 points. Kyle Fogg chipped in 10 points.

Tulsa was lead by Dominique Sutton and Jeremy Lamb with 22 points. Rodney Bartholomew scored 13 points, and Hollis Thompson added 10 points.

The Vipers took control of the first quarter and held their largest lead of 17 points, 28-11 with 1:58 remaining on a slam dunk from Johnson.

Tulsa began closing the gap early in the second quarter. Lamb closed the 66ers deficit to 44-41 with 3:38 remaining in the half. However, a lay-up from Toure Murry and consecutive three-point shots from Kyle Fogg, gave the Vipers a 54-43 lead at the half.

The 66ers came back fighting in the third quarter. Tulsa outscored the Vipers 29-24 during the quarter, and took a 62-61 lead on a lay-up from Sutton. The 66ers took their largest lead of the night, 68-63 on two free throws from Bartholomew with 4:03 on the clock. RGV fought back to hold a 78-72 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

The Vipers were able to maintain a lead on the 66ers throughout the fourth quarter and claimed the 99-87 win.

The Vipers will be on the road this weekend for back-to-back games against Tulsa. Saturday, Dec. 6, RGV will face the 66ers in a 7 p.m. contest. Sunday's game is slated for 4 p.m. Vipers fans can listen to Saturday's game live on Fox Sports 1700 and can watch both games live on YouTube.
