Grand Rapids Hoops News Release
The Continental Basketball Association's Grand Rapids HOOPS are going back to school as part of the team's Adopt-A-HOOP program.
Seven area schools have been paired up with various team members in an initiative designed to further develop the team's presence in the Grand Rapids and West Michigan community. The program, which began in early January, is now in full swing and involves the participation of five HOOPS' players and Assistant Coach Doug Smith.
Each HOOPS' representative will visit their respective school at least two times per month to speak to the school's on various topics including the importance of education, good sportsmanship, and believing in themselves. The team also participates in numerous other activities such as assemblies, lunch, and basketball practice.
The program provides each school with a visible role-model for the children to follow throughout the HOOPS' season, while also allowing the HOOPS' organization the opportunity to raise awareness of the team and its' commitment to serving all of the area's youth.
Following is a complete breakdown of the Adopt-A-HOOP partnerships.
