Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI-Milwaukee Admirals goalie Atte Engren allowed just one goal and made 28 saves, but it wasn't enough as the Admirals offense couldn't crack goalie Ben Bishop and the Admirals fell 1-0 to the Peoria Rivermen Sunday afternoon at the Bradley Center.
The loss marked a number of firsts for the Admirals, none of them good. It was their first home loss since November 18, a span of nine games, which was one win shy of the team record for consecutive home wins. It was also the first loss of the season against the Rivermen after topping Peoria in the first five games between the two clubs. It was also the first time the Admirals had been shutout in 2011-12 and it was Milwaukee's first 1-0 loss since they fell by that score to the Manchester Monarchs on January 18, 2008.
Peoria outshot the Admirals 9-5 in the first thanks in part to three power-play opportunities for the Rivermen and none for Milwaukee.
Adam Cracknell scored the game's only tally at the 11:19 mark of the second period. With the Rivs on a power-play the puck got chipped into the Milwaukee zone just above the left circle. Cracknell gained possession of it and skated in to the slot before sending a quick wrister past Engren.
The Admirals picked up their pressure in the third period and had an extra attacker on the ice for the last 62 seconds of the game, but they couldn't find the equalizer and dropped their second consecutive game.
The Admirals are off until they take on they host the Lake Erie Monsters on Friday, January 6th at 7:00 pm at the Bradley Center.
