Norfolk Admirals News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals announce today that the club has signed six players to join the roster for the 2015-16 season. Right wingers Josh Currie and Jonathan Lessard, left winger Jordan Kremyr, forward Andrew Radjenovic and defensemen Joe Marciano and Gabriel Verpaelst all agreed to a standard players contract for the upcoming season.

Currie, 22, recorded 14 goals and 42 points in 71 contests for Bakersfield last year in his second full professional season. The year prior, Currie began his career in Gwinnett by scoring 15 times and assisting on 16 more goals for 31 points as a rookie after a four-year run with Prince Edward Island of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). With the Rocket, the 5-foot-11, 190-pound right winger played 237 games and produced 97 goals and 88 helpers for 185 career points.

Kremyr, 29, brings four seasons and 191 games of ECHL experience to Norfolk. Following four years at Providence College, Kremyr called Alaska home from 2011 until 2014 as a left winger for the Aces before landing in Bakersfield for 2014-15. The 6-foot, 195-pound forward has collected 41 goals and 80 points over a five-year career highlighted by 16 games in the AHL with Abbotsford two years ago.

Lessard, 24, turned pro in 2012-13 and saw action in 31 games for San Francisco and Utah of the ECHL. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound right wing from St. Eustache, Quebec had 28 goals and 57 points in 62 games for the Allen Americans of the Central Hockey League in 2013-14. Lessard also played for the Condors last season, scoring 19 times and finishing with 41 points.

Marciano, 25, enters his third season as a pro out of Colorado College where he skated in 152 games over four years. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound blueliner moved on to the professional ranks in 2013, making three appearances for Orlando. An Alta Loma, California native, Marciano spent the subsequent two years in Bakersfield, and played 158 games in which he combined for five markers and 13 assists.

Radjenovic, 24, is still classified as a rookie despite suiting up in 22 games for the Condors in 2014-15. After three seasons, 36 goals, and 71 points at Brock University, the Hamilton, Ontario product managed to post five goals and three assists to begin his professional career. At 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Radjenovic provides the Admirals with another scoring option, as he scored 10 or more goals each season at Brock.

Verpaelst, 21, is the third former player of Admirals head coach Eric Veilleux from Veilleux's time as bench boss of Baie-Comeau Drakkar in the QMJHL. For Veilleux, Verpaelst generated some offense as a defenseman, tallying 21 goals and 52 total assists over a four-year major junior career in Baie-Comeau. Verpaelst, a gritty 6-foot and 190-pounder, missed only six games in last year's rookie season for Bakersfield, one in which he finished with 10 points and 141 penalty minutes.

The Admirals open the 2015-16 season at home on October 16 versus the Wheeling Nailers at 7:30 p.m. Season tickets start at $400 and 10-pack tickets start at just $125. Opening Night Packages are on sale now for only $45. For more information visit NorfolkAdmirals.com or call the Admirals Administrative Office at 757-640-1212.
