Lake Michigan Admirals News Release
Rochester, NY. Lake Michigan took division-leading Rochester to the wire before falling 103-99 at Blue Cross Arena, Thursday, in Rochester.
The 13-1 RazorSharks were thinking blow-out after using a 20-4 second quarter run for a 15-point halftime lead against the winless Admirals, but the 3,600 plus Rochester faithful didn't leave their seats till the final buzzer sounded.
Lake Michigan, using a revamped line-up and two new additions, opened the third quarter with a 15-2 run of their own. At 10:52 of the fourth quarter, the Admirals took the lead after sharp shooter Ryan Young hit the three, putting the Admirals up by three points. Two minutes later the score was tied at 81 with 8:40 left.
Capitalizing on a rash of Admiral miscues, Rochester went on a 17-10 run before Lake Michigan could reignite. With just under two minutes remaining, Jerice Carr hit a three-pointer for the RazorSharks, then added three of four from the line to preserve the Rochester win. The RazorSharks' magic number to clinch the division is one with six games remaining on their schedule.
Lake Michigan's revamped line-up included former RazorShark, Demitrius Howard. Howard came off the bench to score 21 points with five of eight three pointers. Romain Martin scored 20 points with four of eight shots dropping for 3-pointers and Tyc Snow added 16. Ryan Young scored 10 points in 12 minutes to ignite his team.
The Admirals lost the rebounding war to Rochester, 52-39 and took 23 less shots at the foul line. The RazorSharks made 26 of 31.
Rochester placed four in double figure scoring. Crouch and Jamaal Davis had 17, Aaron Williams scored 15 and Tasheed Car 12.
The Admirals return home Saturday to play Scranton. Game time is 6 PM at Lake Michigan Catholic. The two teams follow-up with a 3 PM matinee Sunday at Benton Harbor's Farnum Gymnasium.
