San Diego Surf Dawgs News Release
SAN DIEGO - San Diego second baseman Adam Mandel carried over his All-Star performance to the following week, and by doing so, earned the Player of the Week award. Mandel had eight hits (two of which were doubles) in seventeen at-bats for a .471 batting average during a shortened week. As you may recall, Mandel was a doubles machine during the All-Star game, smacking five doubles in all five at-bats. In four games last week, Mandel also picked up three RBIs and walked twice to push his on-base percentage to .526.
Adam Mandel and his Surf Dawg teammates will welcome Jose Canseco and the Long Beach Armada this weekend. The Surf Dawgs are 5-2 since the beginning of the second half, leading the Golden Baseball League in victories. The action starts Friday, 7 PT at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
