(Calgary) - Today, the Calgary Stampeder Football Club is pleased to announce a significant hiring with the addition of Scott Ackles as Senior Vice-President of Club Operations.

Scott enters his first season with the Calgary Stampeders after spending the 2006 season with the BC Lions as the Club's Vice-President of Operations. While with the Lions, Scott's duties included overseeing all operational aspects of the franchise, including BC Place Stadium, Surrey Practice Facility, training camp facilities as well as government and league relations.

"As part of the ongoing vision for the Calgary Stampeder Football Club we are extremely excited about having Scott join the Stampeder family," said President Ted Hellard. "Scott brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from the NFL, XFL, and CFL and we are very fortunate to have Scott lead our club operations in the future."

Scott brings many years of experience in the sports and entertainment industry to the Red and White including a leading role as General Manager of arguably the most successful Grey Cup in CFL history in 2005.

"It's both a privilege and an honour to join one of the CFL's most storied franchises and I look forward to the challenges this position brings," said Senior Vice-President of Club Operations Scott Ackles. "Fans of the Calgary Stampeders have plenty to be excited about both on and off the field. Solid ownership, outstanding executives and a competitive team combined with an organizational approach that places an emphasis on community endeavors provides the foundation that many professional teams envy. My family and I are thrilled to be here and more importantly, we're excited about the future of Stampeder football."

Prior to his involvement with the Grey Cup, Scott spent two years with EventCorp Services as Vice-President of Business Development. In addition, he spent a year as Director of Operations for the Las Vegas Outlaws of the XFL, overseeing the launch of the new franchise as well as league kickoff. A former Video Coordinator with the Dallas Cowboys ('86-'89), Scott previously served as the BC Lions' Director of Operations for four seasons, culminating in the 2000 Grey Cup victory.

Scott and his wife Theresa met at the 1988 Calgary Olympics while he was working with CTV, the host broadcaster for the opening and closing ceremonies. They have two children, Kasey and Robyn.
