ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have re-signed right wing Ross Ring-Jarvi and signed rookie free agent defenseman Dan Sova, Aces head coach Rob Murray announced today.

Ring-Jarvi is the fourth player set to return from last season's club that captured its ECHL record-tying third Kelly Cup championship.

"As we continue to rebuild our roster for the upcoming season, it's important to identify individuals who can make a difference physically," said Murray. "Ross solidified himself with us last season as a hard-working, energetic forward who can create offensive zone chaos in our favor. Dan brings value as a sizeable, right shot defenseman and has the tools to be a really imposing presence on our blueline."

Ring-Jarvi, 27, collected 24 points (9g-15a) and was second among Aces rookies with a +12 rating in 51 games last season while scoring a goal (Kelly Cup Finals) in seven postseason games. He led the Tonsberg Vikings (Norway) with 21 goals and was second with 37 points (21g-16a) in 43 games in 2012-13 and made his pro debut during the prior season in the Central Hockey League with the Rapid City Rush, skating in one playoff game.

The Anoka, Minn. native was a captain at Gustavus Adolphus College (NCAA) during his 2011-12 senior season, when he was named an AHCA All-American and MIAC Player of the Year in a vote by the league's coaches. He was an All-Conference selection for all four seasons of his career and racked up 130 points and 97 penalty minutes in 115 career games.

Sova, 24, skated in 108 career games with Michigan Tech University (NCAA) over the previous four seasons and collected 23 points and 100 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-4, 220-pound defenseman earned a career high 13 points (3g-10), second among the program's blueliners, in 39 games as a 2011-12 sophomore and in the previous season, as a freshman was one of six players to suit up in all 38 games while ranking fourth on the Huskies with nine assists.

The Aces will face the Indy Fuel in a two-game, preseason series at Sullivan Arena starting Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 7:15 p.m. and will unveil their third Kelly Cup championship banner on Opening Night at 7:15 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 17 against the Ontario Reign.

Aces training camp information will be announced soon.
