Salt Lake Bees News Release

The Salt Lake Bees jumped out to a 5-0 lead, but could not hang on, as the Reno Aces rallied for a 6-5 win on Friday. The Bees took a 3-0 lead in the third inning on a three run homer by Jose Rojas, which extended his hitting streak to seventeen games. Salt Lake would add two more runs in the fourth on an RBI double by Chad Wallach and a run scoring single by Jake Palomaki, but the Bees managed just three hits the rest of the way. Reno would come back with one run in the fourth, three in the sixth and one in the seven to tie the game at 5-5.

Reno would get two singles and a sacrifice fly off of Zack Weiss (1-3) to bring home the winning run and give the Aces their first win of the series and their third walkoff win over the Bees this season. Salt Lake starter Cesar Valdez went six innings and allowed four runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and no walks. Rojas led the Bees with two hits and three runs batted in, while Palomaki added two hits and one RBI. David MacKinnon had his nine game hitting streak end, as he went 0 for 3, but extended his on-base streak to 32 games with first inning walk.
