Aces Pumpkin Patch a Success

Alexandria, LA; November 1, 2007 - The Alexandria Aces announced today the 2nd annual "Mac's Fresh Market Alex the Ace Pumpkin Patch" presented by Smoothie King and Dagwoods Sandwich Shoppe, raised 350 pounds of food and $21.00 for the Food Bank of Central Louisiana.

The event, held this past Saturday, October 27th, was a food drive that offered the public a chance to donate nonperishable food items to needy families and receive a pumpkin for the holiday season.

"We are extremely happy with the way the event turned out," said Chet Carey, general manager of the Aces. "Not only did we raise over 350 pounds of food for a very worthy cause, the Food Bank, but we also got to see the excitement on all the children's faces as Alex the Ace helped them pick out their very own pumpkin for Halloween."

Carey added, "We would like to thank Mac's Fresh Market, Smoothie King, Dagwoods Sandwich Shoppe, and Q93 for their partnership in the pumpkin patch, as well as the Alexandria Fire Department for their support. A special thank you goes to Harold Quebedeaux Produce in Mansura, LA and Chandler's Grocery in Alexandria for donating the pumpkins and Noles-Frye Realty for use of the property for the event."

The Food Bank of Central Louisiana is a non-profit organization whose mission is to alleviate hunger in Central Louisiana. The Food Bank distributes food and grocery products to needy families through a network of approved charitable agencies in the following eleven parishes: Allen, Avoyelles, Catahoula, Concordia, Grant, LaSalle, Natchitoches, Rapides, Sabine, Vernon and Winn.
