Aces Prepare For Take Off, Booking Five

Alexandria, LA; April 18, 2008- The Alexandria Aces of United League Baseball (ULB) announced today they have signed outfielder Palmer Karr, infielder Bryan Sabatella, catcher Eddie Fitzpatrick and pitchers Ryan Harris and Charlie Foster to their 2008 roster.

The sure handed Karr returns to Alexandria having earned the United League Championship Series MVP last season. Karr finished the season blasting 18 home runs, knocking in 81 runs to go along with a .276 average. This year marks Karr's fourth season in professional baseball having played in Pensacola of the American Association in 2005 and splitting time between Pensacola, Ft. Worth and Laredo in 2006. Karr has a career average of .281 to go along with 141 RBI's and 35 bombs.

Sabatella returns for his second season with the Aces. In 2007 Sabatella finished in the top ten in hitting with a .313 average in addition to driving in 53 runs and hitting five home runs. The Aquebogue, NY native is entering his fourth season in professional baseball. Originally signed by the Seattle Mariners in 2005, Sabatella spent two seasons in their organization playing with the Everett Aqua Sox of the Northwest League and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers of the Midwest League.

Veteran catcher, Fitzpatrick returns to the Aces in 2008 marking his 11th year in pro baseball. Fitzpatrick began his career in baseball with Columbia of the now defunct Heartland League in 1997. That same season, Fitzpatrick had his contract purchased by the Pittsburgh Pirates and was assigned to Batavia of the New York Penn League. In 1998, Fitzpatrick joined the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings of the Texas-Louisiana League where he played two seasons. The Greenville Bluesmen signed Fitzpatrick in 2000, where he played in 100 games that season hitting .267 a career high for the catcher. Fitzpatrick has also spent time playing with the Chico Heat of the Golden Baseball League and the Edinburg Roadrunners of the now defunct Central Baseball League.

Ryan joins the field staff as pitching coach and will also pull double duty as the projected number one starter on the pitching staff. Ryan, who began his professional career in 1998 with Tri-City of the Western League, is no stranger to Alexandria, having played in the former Texas-Louisiana League and Central League for seven seasons most of which was spent in Edinburg. Ryan has posted a career record of 67-48, a 4.30 ERA, 801 strike outs, and only 394 walks in 1070.2 innings.

A native of Lynbrook, NY, Foster returns to the Aces for his 2nd season of professional baseball. Last season in his pro debut Foster compiled a 3-0 record along with a 2.60 ERA in 22 appearances with the Aces.
