ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces play host to the Utah Grizzlies Friday and Saturday, October 15-16 at Sullivan Arena, the first two dates in a 72-game slate that marks Alaska's eighth in the ECHL.
Opening Weekend also offers the first two of 28 weekend dates in Anchorage for the 2010-11 season. All home tilts begin at 7:15 p.m., with the exception of the first four Sunday games, which start at 5:05 p.m. and will once again feature a post-game skate with the team, and the home finale, scheduled for a 2:05 p.m. face-off against Utah. Immediately after that game, the Aces organization will hold its Fan Appreciation Party. The schedule at Sullivan Arean, where Alaska lost just once after January 9 during the 2009-10 season (eventually finishing with the third-best home record in the league) includes 12 Friday games, 11 Saturdays, five games each on Sunday and Wednesday, two Thursdays, and one Tuesday.
Among the 11 Saturday night dates is a January 1 clash against the Ontario Reign, who for the second straight year will be Alaska's New Year's Eve opponent as well. Those games are part of a season-long 12-game homestand between December 8 and January 8. T
he Aces will head back East for the first time since the 2009 Kelly Cup Finals and for the first time in the regular season since November 2007 when the club treks to upstate New York for games against the Elmira Jackals Nov. 24 and 26 and against the Trenton Devils Nov. 27. Alaska has never faced Elmira and has not met Trenton since the 2005 National Conference Finals, when the team was known as the Titans and eliminated the Aces in a Game 7 at Sullivan Arena. The Aces also split a pair against the Titans in the 2003 preseason at Sullivan Arena, prior to their first regular campaign in the ECHL.
2010-11 season tickets are now on sale at the Aces office, located on 15th & Gambell. Regular summer office hours are Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
