Aces Name Grand Slam Winner As Coach

St. Louis, MO- The St. Louis Aces have hired Rick Leach as head coach for 2010 to add to their star studded lineup. Leach, a career doubles player, has won nine Grand Slam titles (five in Men's Doubles and four in Mixed Doubles). He came out of retirement in 2001 and went on to achieve the longest consecutive doubles title streak with 15. A World TeamTennis veteran, Leach has played 10 WTT seasons, four of them for the Aces in 1996, 1997, 1998 and 2001. He was part of the 1996 WTT Champion Aces team. Leach has coached tennis at the University of Southern California with his father. His brother Jon also played professional tennis and is married to 2010 Aces star Lindsay Davenport.
When asked about coming back to coach Leach said, "I am really happy to be back in St. Louis. I have some great memories of playing here, especially winning the 1996 WTT Championship. I enjoyed playing with the Aces before and look forward coaching them. Hopefully we can bring the Championship back to St. Louis in 2010!"
"With the high caliber of talent we have playing for us this season, I felt that adding Rick to the mix was the icing on the cake. We have a very competitive team this year being led by a coach with a tradition of winning. We can't wait to keep that tradition going with the Aces this season," said Aces President Dani Apted.
