Aces Announce RHP Derek Vaughn Named Top 14 Prospect of TCL

Alexandria, LA; September 13, 2011 - The Alexandria Aces are proud to announce that one of Aces' starting pitchers for the 2011 season, Derek Vaughn was recently named one of the top prospects by Perfect Game of the Texas Collegiate League (TCL).

Vaughn, 21, a 6' 1" right-handed pitcher from Edmond, OK, pitching at Texas Wesleyan University was selected as the 14th Top Prospect and the 7th highest pitching prospect by the baseball website. Derek was earlier drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 47th Round of the 2011 MLB Draft in June, but has decided to return to Texas Wesleyan for his junior year.

Vaughn led the Aces in starts for the 2011 with nine starts in thirteen total appearances. He pitched 50 total innings, compiling a 3.42 ERA, while striking out 54, which was tied for the fourth best in the league.
