Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have agreed to terms with free agent left wing Robert Farmer, defenseman Ben Parker and forward Eli Zuck for the 2013-14 season, Aces head coach Rob Murray announced today.

"As we continue to build a balanced roster, we look forward to seeing how our newcomers bring potential in key areas up front and on the penalty kill," said Murray. "Robert comes highly recommended from one of the top leagues in Europe as a very skilled forward. Ben played a key role in one of the top penalty kill units in the country and Eli developed into a leader with a reputation of playing a hard-nosed game."

Farmer, 22, is set for his first season in North America after appearing in 203 career games with 148 points (65g-83a) and 348 penalty minutes in the United Kingdom with the Braehead Clan, Coventry Blaze, and Sheffield Steelers of the Elite Ice Hockey League.

The 6-foot-3, 176-pound forward from Nottingham, England ranked second in scoring last season for Braehead with 51 points (20g-31a) in 52 games. Zuck, 23, skated in 117 career college games for Minnesota State Mankato (NCAA) from 2009-13, registering 44 points and a +6 rating. He led the Mavericks with a career-high +13 rating while posting 11 points in 31 games last season. MSU also went 11-0-0 when Zuck registered a point during his senior campaign.

The 6-foot, 185-pound forward from Anchorage is the fourth local product to join the Aces during the offseason (Nick Mazzolini, Evan Trupp and Dustin Molle) and earned a career-high 18 points and 13 assists in 35 games as a 2010-11 sophomore.

Parker, 23, suited up in 132 career games for Canisius College (NCAA) and notched 27 points (6g-21a). The 6-foot, 185-pound defenseman from Port Perry, Ontario posted a career-high 12 points in 42 games as a 2012-13 senior.

Last season, he also helped the Golden Griffins set a program record in penalty kill efficiency (90.1%) which ranked third best in the nation and 11th all-time in NCAA history. Parker also led Canisius last season with a +10 rating which was the highest in the program since the 2008-09 season.
