Fargo-Moorhead Jets News Release

Fargo (ND) The Fargo-Moorhead Jets will celebrate their mascot Ace the Eagle's third birthday during their game this Friday night at 7:05pm at the Carlson Coliseum versus the Minnesota Blizzard.

All fans are invited to come to the game and get their photo taken with Ace, sponsored by Best Buy of Fargo. In addition, during the second intermission, the crowd will be invited to sing "Happy Birthday" to Ace.

As a special bonus, all Ace's Kids Club members will be able to have some complimentary birthday cake will supplies last during the game. Kids Club members must bring their membership card to the game in order to receive a slice of cake.

Along with Friday being Ace's Birthday, it'll also be the start of a crucial last-season series for the FM Jets (31-19-3) who are in a tight race for first place in the North American Hockey League's Central Division. Losers of three straight, and seven of their last eight, the FM Jets will look to turn the tables as they face-off with the Minnesota Blizzard of Alexandria (24-23-5).

Along with Friday's game, the teams will also meet Saturday at 7:05pm.

Minnesota is fairly locked into the fourth seed in the Central Division, having already clinched a post-season spot, but with little chance of moving up any farther. Thus, Minnesota will likely be the opponent for the team that finishes in first in the division when the first round of the playoffs roll around, and that could be the FM Jets, if they are able to end a recent skid.

Since blowing out Billings and North Iowa by a combined 23-1 over Feb. 10-11, the FM Jets have lost seven of eight games and enter this weekend with a needle-thin lead in the division. Southern Minnesota is only two points behind the FM Jets, and then there is Bismarck which just five points back.

The FM Jets have been in first place everyday since Nov. 12, but unless they win both games this weekend, they could drop out of the top spot for the first time since then.

Following this weekend, the FM Jets will welcome the Southern Minnesota Express to the Carlson Coliseum on March 17 at 7:05pm. The regular season will conclude with a two-game series at Bismarck March 24-25.

The FM Jets are the 2005 Borne Cup Champions and are in their third season as members of the North American Hockey League. The NAHL is the nation's largest Junior A hockey league and is now in its 30th year of operation.

Jets home games are played at the John E. Carlson Coliseum in Fargo, ND. All games are broadcast at 103.9 THE TRUCK and fmjets.com.
