LAMOUREAUX EARNS SHER-WOOD NAHL OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

The Bismarck Bobcats opened up the Central Division race last weekend, and put themselves right in the thick of things with a two-game sweep of the leaders Fargo-Moorhead on the Jets home ice. And leading the way offensively for the Bobcats was their top scorer Jacques Lamoureaux, whose seven points earned recognition as the Sher-wood NAHL Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending March 5.

The native of Grand Forks, North Dakota, set the tone early in the series with a goal at the 1:22 mark of the opening period on Friday night. About 10 minutes later, he set up the game's second goal, a power play marker by linemate Tommy Lee, which turned out to be the game-winner. And less than two minutes later, on another power play, Lamoureaux notched his second goal of the game to make the score 3-0 as the ‘Cats went on to a 3-1 triumph.

The following night, Lamoureaux broke the ice again, scoring the opening goal at 5:12 of the first stanza. The Jets tied it five minutes later, but late in the second period, Lamoureaux recorded a power play goal to put Bismarck back on top. At 7:15 of the third period, he set up Dee for a goal that made the score 3-1, and that tally turned out to be the game-winner as the Jets answered within three minutes. The Bobcats would score once more - their only goal of the weekend in which Lamoureaux was not involved - and came away with a 4-2 win, the sweep and a perch just five points behind Fargo-Moorhead.

Lamoureaux, who recently committed to attend the Air Force Academy next season, vaulted into sixth place among NAHL scorers. He now has 32 goals and 36 assists for 68 points in just 49 games. This is his second Player of the Week selection. He was also chosen for the week ending November 20.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Tom Brooks (Texas), Rylan Galiardi (Minnesota), Ryan Guentzel (Southern Minnesota), Kyle Kraemer (Wichita Falls), Nick Kosinski (Cleveland), Drew Pierson (Alpena). KRYSTOSEK, REDMANN SHARE SHER-WOOD NAHL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Two goaltenders who stood tall against strong opponents and led their teams to sweeps last weekend share Sher-wood NAHL Defensive Player of the Week award for the week ending March 5.

Bismarck Bobcats goalie Tim Krystosek backstopped his team to a two-game road sweep of the Central Division-leading Fargo-Moorhead Jets for his share of the honors. On Friday night, the native of Maple Grove, Minnesota, turned aside 42 of 43 shots, 19 in the second period alone, but allowed only one third period goal as the Bobcats downed the Jets 3-1.

The next night, Fargo-Moorhead peppered Krystosek with another 28 shots. Only two got past him as the Bobcats completed the sweep with a 4-2 victory to move five points behind the Jets in the Central Division race. In the two games against Fargo-Moorhead, Krystosek allowed no goals during the seven power plays he faced.

The biggest showdown of the season took place in Frisco, as the first overall Bozeman IceDogs came to town to play the defending champion Texas Tornado. The Tornado threw a strong defensive blanket over Bozeman, and the anchor of that effort was goaltender Troy Redmann.

On Saturday, the native of Brea, California blocked 22 of Bozeman 23 shots, 12 in the third period during which Redmann was particularly sharp, while allowing only a power play goal in the second period, as the Tornado downed the IceDogs 2-1.

The following night, Redmann again allowed only one goal, this one on a Bozeman five-on-three power play. He kicked out the other 15 shots he faced as Texas emerged with a 3-1 victory. On the weekend, Redmann allowed only two power play goals in 16 attempts against the best power play team in the NAHL.

This is the third Player of the Week selection for Krystosek. He previously was honored for the weeks ending October 23 and January 1. This is the second Player of the Week selection for Redmann. He was previously honored for the week ending November 27.

HONORABLE MENTIONS: Ricky Akkerman (Cleveland), Jeff Carlson (Southern Minnesota), Max Dodds (Minnesota), Peter O'Hara (Alpena), Kyle Pidde (Wichita Falls).
