
AC to Face Minnesota in Second Round of U.S. Open Cup

ST. LOUIS, MO (June 17, 2010) - AC St. Louis will face their U.S.S.F. Division 2 Professional League opponents NSC Minnesota in the second round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The match is set for 7:00 p.m. CT on Tuesday, June 22 at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minnesota.
The match will be the second time in the past month that St. Louis and Minnesota have faced off. The previous meeting was on Saturday, May 29 in Minnesota, a 3-2 loss to the Stars.
AC St. Louis advanced to the second round of the U.S. Open Cup by defeating the Des Moines Menace 1-0 on Tuesday, June 15. Mike Ambersley scored the game-winning goal in the 70th minute to secure the win. AC St. Louis is 3-3-1 in all competitions dating back to May 1. In that span AC St. Louis has scored in six of seven games while posting three shutouts.
The United States Soccer Federation announced AC St. Louis has been drawn to play the Los Angeles Galaxy at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California for the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Should AC St. Louis defeat Minnesota in their second round match the team will travel to California for a Tuesday, June 29 match. Game time is slated for 9:30 p.m. CT should AC St. Louis advance.
AC St. Louis' next home match in U.S.S.F. league play is June 26 when they host the Vancouver Whitecaps. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 1-888-STL-GOAL, or by clicking on the "tickets" tab at www.ac-stlouis.com.
