Lexington County Blowfish News Release
Lexington County, South Carolina- The annual Mayors Prayer Breakfast was held on a beautiful and sunny Wednesday morning in front of a packed house inside the Stadium Club at Lexington County Baseball Stadium.
Lexington Mayor Steve MacDougall, along with mayors from across Lexington County, gathered with other community leaders to enjoy breakfast and an engaging message from evangelist Adrian Despres.
Adrian Despres played football at Furman University and from 2000-2015, he was the chaplain for the South Carolina football team. Since 2015, Adrian has been traveling across the nation evangelizing in 48 states across the country.
After his dynamic message, Mayor Steve MacDougall introduced the superintendent of Lexington School District One Dr. Greg Little and the president of USC Palmetto College, Dr. Susan Elkins.
Dr. Little and Dr. Elkins announced that Lexington One and USC Palmetto College are partnering to expand an early college program into the district. This would allow students to begin increasing their dual enrollment course load.
The ultimate goal would be to have students graduate from high schools in Lexington One with an associates degree already in hand. Lexington Middle School will also be used on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm for adult degree continuation programs.
The Prayer Breakfast came to a close with co-owner of the Blowfish Bill Shanahan and Mayor MacDougall announcing the funds raised from ticket sales for the event will go to Rev. Roger Weaver and His House Ministries. His House had a tremendous loss due to a fire at their facility on Meeting Street and they are in the process of rebuilding. Rev. Weaver closed the breakfast with an invocation.
Blowfish Co-Owners Bill & Vicki Shanahan, GM Theo Bacot, Adrian Desires, Lexington Mayor Steve MacDougall, Blowfish Asst GM Kyle Calhoun and Director of Media/Broadcasting Justin Hall had time to enjoy each others company as the Mayors Prayer Breakfast came to a conclusion.
